About these answers
Mini #346's ten answers fill 19 white squares, and every one of them is crossed, so each letter belongs to one Across and one Down answer. The longest answers are BLURB (5-Across) and GAUZE (1-Down), at five letters; the shortest are GOT (1-Across), OWE (7-Across), TAB (3-Down) and BOO (5-Down).
The grid uses eleven different letters. The most common is O, in four squares, and 9 of the 19 squares hold a vowel (A, E, I, O or U). It includes Z, one of the four letters (J, Q, X and Z) that turn up least often in English.
The trickier clues, explained
- 4-Across, “Pop star Lady ___”: the blank is GAGA, giving “Pop star Lady GAGA”.
