About this printout
This page prints Mini #383 (Sunday, October 18, 2026): a 5×5 grid with four black squares and ten clues, five Across and five Down. The site's navigation and footer are left off the printout, and so are these notes.
Solving on paper
Paper has no Check button, so write lightly where you're unsure. The shortest slot, 1-Down, has only three letters, so it's a good place to start. The shortest clue is 4-Down, “Wager”, at one word; the longest is 9-Across, “Plant a flower start, or a top-ranked player”, at eight words. Clue types to watch for:
- Marked as a short form: 1-Down, “Computer's ‘brain,’ for short”; 7-Down, “Mind-altering drug, in brief”
When you've finished, compare with the answer key for October 18, 2026, or open the hints if you get stuck. Prefer a screen? Play it online. The day before, Mini #382 (October 17, 2026), opens with 1-Across, “Marshy, wet ground”.
