About these answers
Mini #326's ten answers fill 23 white squares, and every one of them is crossed, so each letter belongs to one Across and one Down answer. The longest answers are RIGOR (5-Across), AMIGO (6-Across), VENUS (7-Across), AIMED (1-Down), AGING (2-Down) and ROGUE (3-Down), at five letters; the shortest are AARP (1-Across), EDGE (8-Across), PROS (4-Down) and RAVE (5-Down).
The grid uses thirteen different letters. The most common are A, E, G and R, in three squares each, and 11 of the 23 squares hold a vowel (A, E, I, O or U). There’s no J, Q, X or Z in it.
The trickier clues, explained
- 1-Across, “Org. for retired folks (abbr.)”: the short form is AARP.
- 4-Down, “Experts, for short”: the short form is PROS.
