Mini #324's ten answers fill 21 white squares, and every one of them is crossed, so each letter belongs to one Across and one Down answer. The longest answers are HOURS (6-Across), KNOWS (2-Down), INUIT (3-Down) and NERDY (4-Down), at five letters; the shortest are AAH (1-Down) and SEE (7-Down).
The grid uses fourteen different letters. The most common are E and N, in three squares each, and 9 of the 21 squares hold a vowel (A, E, I, O or U). There’s no J, Q, X or Z in it.
The trickier clues, explained
- 5-Across, “Queen ___ of Cleves”: the blank is ANNE, giving “Queen ANNE of Cleves”.
- 1-Down, “That feels nice!”: the answer is AAH.
